Book Review of Everything and Nothing by Nilotpal Dutta

Posted on February 19, 2020February 19, 2020 by admin

Product description

In the aftermath of the Noakhali riots, a young Damyanti flees her beloved Bengal to take shelter in an emerging India after partition. Her dreams of a home and flourishing life in Dacca shattered, she strives to forget her past and build anew for herself and her family. Her life blooms with her children and the community she builds around her in Patna, until the Emergency, the Khalistan Movement and Mandal Commission threaten to disturb it all and once again take away what Damyanti has so lovingly nurtured. The Ram Mandir agitation is the last straw. Determined to not succumb to the pressures of a hostile communal environment, Damyanti decides to combat her overwhelming guilt for the lack of strength and a failed sense of judgement and redeem all past wrongs by helping right her grandson’s life. Damyanti, who has blamed outsiders her entire life for discord and division, is finally forced to accept that her own people could just as easily be the outsiders. A heartwarming story of love and redemption, Nilotpal’s Everything and Nothing is a tribute to a generation that found the strength over and over again to rebuild on the foundation of ruins. A generation that loved, lost and loved again, but never lost hope…

Review

Everything and nothing

#qotd best thing of Instagram?

Such a beautiful book.

What I liked most is a solid female protagonist.

The name of the female protagonist is Damayanti.

In today’s world, people are trying to find differences, this book stands out in that chaos. How to celebrate similarities between people rather than fighting for differences.

Damayanti is now 82. She is in her bedroom.
We can see the life of Damayanti from her childhood to the final days of her life.

There are no many topics touched in this book like partition, how people kill each other under the name of god, loss regrate

How the government failed to protect the community. It’s kind of book that touches your heart and you keep wondering in your thoughts.

The narration is beautifully done by the author. If you have seen all those points them it’s heart touching.

The languages are very easy and lucid. The plot set in riots in the history of India.

How the politics and government work for there own benefits now for the community.

This book is will definitely keep you hooked up till the end.

Kudos to all the research! 💯💯
