Men and dreams in the Dhauladhar review

Posted on November 12, 2018 by admin
Men and dreams in the Dhauladhar 🦋 4.2/5)
.
Beautiful and heart breaking stories.
.
.”Kangra ki baarish aur Dilli ki chokri, koi bharosa nahin kab barasen”.
.
Men and dreams in the Dhauladhar is a story of 3 people who accidentally met each other in Dhauladhar range near the Himalayas, when a hydro electric project had passed and a dam was built.
The story revolves around the three characters Nanda, Khusru and Rekha.
.
Nanda- Nanda’s Kalari background is quite interesting, though he is not particularly an engaging character. Khusru is the more interesting one with shades of grey and being a hero at times and a villain at other times. His behavior is abrupt, particularly his choice of actions and the numerous women in his life. He is a difficult character to understand and relate to.
.
Khusru – khusru is sent away from his parents to live with his uncle. When his uncle dies, he is taken into a training camp by a terrorist group. He lives a nomadic life doing the terrorists bidding. He joins as a labourer at the campsite.
.
Rekha – Rekha, a doctor, wants to be a professional dancer. She keeps delaying her marriage with a doctor, which was fixed by her grandmother. She believes in true love and waits for the perfect man until she meets Khusru.
.
The novel has many themes in its womb such as love, pain, abject poverty, misery, terrorism and above everything, dreams.
If you are looking for a different premise in contemporary fiction, this is the one to pick up.

Rating 4.2/5
