MOHINI: THE ENCHANTREs

MOHINI: THE ENCHANTREs by Anuja Chandramouli Book review

Posted on September 3, 2020September 3, 2020 by admin

About Book –

elusive as a fragment of a forgotten dream, fragile as a figment from fantasy, Mohini is perfection made possible.

distilled from the essence of Vishnu, Mohini the Enchantress is a part of him and yet she revels in the autonomy and extraordinary powers of beauty, magic and enchantment that are hers to wield. She is loved and desired by all in existence and yet, she is elusive tantalizing temptress, traipsing her way across the topsy-turvy terrain of fable and myth.
mohini’s meandering path will see her in the thick of things as the devas and asuras try to get their hands on amrita—the nectar of immortality, blunder into a love triangle that will Spark a bloody war, fulfil the last wish of a dead hero, and traipse into a romantic tryst with Mahadeva. She also becomes the mother of shastha, a beacon of hope for all who are considered oddities by a spiteful society that recognises only two genders.
Set against the tumult and intrigue of a celestial quest for immortality, br>Anuja Chandramouli brings the extraordinary saga of Mohini to vivid life. She takes the reader on a dizzying ride through the shifting sands of time, expertly navigating the quagmire of gender, love, lust and desire, deftly untangling the threads of tall tales and terrible truths, while spinning a deliciously entertaining yarn for the ages.

About Author

Most importantly, he finally arrived at the simple truth, which quelled the crushing fear and doubt that he had carried over from the charred remains of his past: All of us have something to do with everything, even if it is nothing.

Every once in a while, over the course of our ceaseless wanderings and endless adventures, we found ourselves with a bird’s eye view of the mighty events that rocked the three worlds. We watched the Great Flood, saw the blade of a mighty axe hefted and lowered over and over again, leaving Bhumi Devi drenched in blood. An infuriated woman with unbound tresses plucked out her breast and hurled it at the capital of a mighty kingdom, turning it to ash. An army of monkeys built a bridge across the sea to fight a demon-king who had abducted another man’s wife.

There was something strangely serene about him, given that he was about to be decapitated with a single blow. It was almost as if he believed that it was all happening to someone else.

When the deed was done, a beautiful woman mourned the passing of her husband by gently picking up the fair head and kissing his lips one last time before the God who walked among men took it from her. There was no theatrical wailing, keening, beating of the breast or broken bangles. She sat in a corner, with her face buried in her hands, pouring her tears and grief into her palms. The profound misery and aching sorrow that spilled forth from between the gap in her fingers was a palpable thing. She wasn’t the only one who grieved for the deceased. He had been more beloved than he knew, and many added their tears into the void left by his passing.

It was all very affecting. But we couldn’t linger. He now had the closure he had journeyed through such difficult terrain to find, and it was time to move on. There were so many more journeys to undertake, unexplored places to visit, lives to live, stories to tell and a lover to love.

Review

Mohini the enchantress

What do you know about Mohini?

The mythology is filled with men and very less spotlight for female characters.

We all know the Mohini is the essence of Vishnu. From childhood, we know very little about female characters in mythology.

If you are in the same thought? Then this book is just perfect for you.

Mohini was created to mesmerize everyone in battle. Her role to get Amrit from demons.
Most of you know this stuff.

But the beauty of this book is writing style. I really loved it. There are a lot of characters I came to know in detail the first time.

And the drawback is also the writing style for beginners who never read any books.

If you love mythology do pick up!
